Hello All, This is it. We are closing down the shop at Lake Nitinaht. I loved reporting on the weather on a daily base, and I hope you found it useful. My plan is to be back next year and start reporting as soon as I get to the lake, sometimes middle to end of May 2026. I am looking...

It had been requested that I post up a how-to for rescuing runaway wings. I've successfully done it at least once so I guess it makes me an internet expert on the topic. Please feel free to add any methods or insights to this thread. The following is what seemed to work for me the other day...

Currently, a broad area of high pressure over the NE PAC exists along with a surface thermal trough extending northward along the West Coast. This has lead to light offshore flow recently however, a flow reversal is in store. Onshore flow looks to return on Tuesday as a frontal system draws near. With it, small craft winds are possible for the coastal waters Tuesday evening into Wednesday. The latest NBM and HREF probabilities suggest a 50-100% chance of sustained winds exceeding 21 kt. The highest probabilities are for the outer coastal waters. Wave heights with this system will increase to 8-11 ft around this time with the largest waves over the outer coastal waters. Seas will subside Wednesday afternoon to 5-7 ft and will continue decreasing into Friday to 3-5 ft. Additional systems may move over the waters late in the week. However, the latest guidance suggests marine impacts will be minimal at this time. McMillian (Issued: 251 PM PDT Mon Oct 6 2025 by NOAA)

I am at China Crk for the day and possibly overnight till Thurs if anyone wants to share.  As of 1pm Breeze is 12 knots gusting 15 as of 1pm, but better south of camp if your good at upwinding.   Skies are a mix of sun & cloud.

https://www.emergencyinfobc.gov.bc.ca/event/tsunami-29jul25/ looks like there was a big earthquake in/near Russia. Wave coming around 11pm or so. Haven’t digested much detail before posting. Not sure what it means for folks at China Creek or Nitinat. Hope folks are safe.

New TweezerStats v2.1 just dropped. Get out there gybing, tacking and 360ing (weather permitting).

Ummm...that is pretty impressive. Well done Tweezer (and BWD?) - tacks, gybes, foiling 360s! Seems to have L/R split like Garmin running dynamics for any runners with a premium HR strap. Gonna showcase my weak side!!

Any Gath helmet owners have any feedback on there purchase? There’s like 4 different types and they all look convincing lol I don’t know what one to get

I love mine!  I’ve got a “Neo” and the XL fits my large head perfectly.  It’s so lightweight I barely notice it’s there.  My understanding is that the various models all fit slightly different, so it's best if you can try one on before you buy.  Neo is the most comfortable model in my opinion.

Yes they all fit differently, try some on. Neo doesn’t fit prominent forehead, Surf hat is most popular and likely the most common best fit, most aqua dynamic, Gedi has best impact rating and offers visor options

I have an old Gath with the retractable visor. The small fits my pinhead nice and snug. Very nice and warm in the winter. No need for a hood.
