I had a couple of planing runs and one hero duck ( goose ) jibe before the wind died off.

After that I was practicng "no wind" waterstarts and chicken ( hen ) jibes.

And I'm with BWD on the best part of the day. Man, thanks for the beer! That was great! Good company, good food, we should do it again

Logged the starting wind - nicely powered 5.8 for the first hour, dropping slowly, by the end it was 95% slog, 5% plane. The GB weather station shows 24 knot gusts for this time, so maybe we are calibrated low. Made a couple of (barely) planing gybes, stayed dry on most. Did some half-hearted tack attempts on the inside, not seriously going for it.

It was blowing MUCH harder in Sooke Basin before/after. Beer at the 17 Mile with BWD, RD, Brian, and Don. BWD musta hit his head coming off on one of h ... (more)

Ok thats enough Gordon's for me for a bit. The best wind was when Don and I were standing around watching the 5.5/Jimmy Lewis dude sailing for close to an hour. Wind was on/off and a stupid cloud over us seem to keep the wind away. Oh well, still fun and good practice. Best session was at the 17 mile...good friends, good food and good beer :)

Waited all day at the hatch only to watch 15ish knots turn into zero and puking rain  . Eventually went to the pub and about to order beer when someone with a blackberry said it was picking up out east. We bolted for Rowena, panic rigged and had a great 20 minutes on 5.8 before the rain started and wind died.

Awoke to what I thought was raincloud. It turned out to be a fogbank  Wind started early and Sandra took the first session on the 5.4 and her RRD. It was her first time out in over a year so she was a bit hesitant. Once she left the beach, she was gone for about 1.5 hours. She was rippin' it up. She looked great!

Once she came in, I took the 5.4 out on my slalom board and was just screaming back and forth. Man, that board is fast  The wind kept building and the slalom board was getting a bi ... (more)

:D :D :D :D :D Two words: "FOG BANK" Went out to Friday b/c it was the only free time in the near future. Took big gear, expecting to float around and possibly get skunked, but.... lets say a 4.5 would have been a good idea. Probably 7 boards and about the same # kites out. Stable winds, lots of very powered/overpowered sailing - one of the top three days I've had at Nitinat (factoring in both wind and lack of crowds). Still 6.0 at 6pm. Glad I took the chance.... Waited with Jose and Don for a few hours and the wind finally showed up at 6:30. Strange that Sheringham didn't show over 17, cause it was low 20's for sure on the outside. Not much on the inside. Super flat, good for tricks...finally got the upwind 360s back :) Kind of a lame session but nice to get out.

After humming and hawing about the weather all morning, we finally hit the road. I was totally expecting to sail big gear all weekend. We arrived mid afternoon to a very sparse campsite. 1 kite and 2 windsurfers out in lots of wind :D Unloaded and hit the water at about 3:45. Absolute bliss for 2 hours. Had the lake to myself for the last hour. Solid 20-25 knots. Got a bit gustier later but still lots of wind until well after dark.

:D Props to EC and NOAA for delivering on the forecast :!: At 2pm it was 5 knots and looked grim, the drive to Gordos looked foolish (Dr Suzuki was saying don't waste the gas  ). But, took a chance and the wind machine cranked up :)

Nothing beats sailing with friends at such a beautiful place. Had fun working on a range of moves, most invented 20 years ago, with varying degrees of success.

Morewind was respresenting the forward crowd, BWD performing his patented impossible starboard side wave rides...i don't know how he does it. I managed to rotate around on another back loop type thing...still no witness'. Feeling better on the starboard wave rides...still a pussy for the forwards

:D again! Silky smooth, creamy wind. ZERO gusts. Light at first (maybe 12?), then gently rose like someone had a giant fan with a slow dial. Wound up to @17/18? at it's peak before dropping slightly. Awesome seeing Grant on his 8m kite and foil board. And King Thomas acting like an air puppy! That was easy wind, but damn fun too. 3.00 hours JP FreeRace 142L
    Ezzy Infinity 7.0
Wind came up earlier (12:30 pm) than yesterday, I arrived at 2:00, sailed dialed up 7.0M/FreeRace until 4:30...wind died just a bit and then came back up again. A solid rippin' day on big stuff. The new Ezzy is perfect.

Tuesday. Caught the 6:30am from Horseshoe Bay right behind Roger Dee with his new Chalet Camper. Arrived at the lake at 10:30am. The wind was already up. Set up the tent. Rigged a 6.2 and 5.3 and hit the water at 12:30. At 1:00 I grabbed the Kombat 95 and 5.3 and was fully powered (46 kph!). Lots of wind. Like August! Getting hate from my elbow - more Ibupropen - can still feel the hate! Stayed on the 5.3 for 2.5 hours! Fantastic! Water is warm. No crap on the beach. Only 4 groups camping. Me ... (more)
