So JL says, "sorry, going kiting man, self-launch, no problemo" so I do, works great both times, nice & steady, day's accomplishment as wind slowly died b4 I could get out. Twisted first one line then other, not sure how  during landings barnacles managed to chew a couple of holes into my nice spotless kite. Oooouuh the pain  like key-ing a new paintjob on a car  practiced punching out, thx JL for new clues

First time trying Jan's new Instinct Ozone 13 meter bow kite.This kite rocks.Feels a lot like a C-Kite but better,Gusts or no gusts,smooth as pie.No bridle,with wing tip attachments,fifth line stable,simple and a joy to fly.Speed sailing in Ross Bay with Bobson was a gas.Looking forward to flying kites even more now.

YES, this was a TRIPLE-SMILER  Launched out of Ross Bay at 5pm, took about 2 mins to get used to sailing again, it's been a couple weeks. Took off out to Trial, then port tack all the way down to Broachie Ledge marker past the VooDoo chop in front of KOOK St. which wasn't much fun. Then looooong Starboard tack all the way back to Trial. Water was soooooo flat just West of Trial which made for great speed runs and jibe practice. Weird day - up and down wind...only got in one run - didn't make it back to my launch point today. Made the ultimate sacrifice of taking off wetsuit, so the wind would come up again! When we left at 4:00, the wind seemed to be holding very nicely.

Crazy up and down day including an hour of schlogging way down wind. Finally broke the new board curse though and it does work with a 5.8. Feels amazing even in less than ideal conditions. Fluked my first upwind 360 on starboard tack.

Most changable day ever at Nitinat I think. Sailed 5.8 and a wave fin when I needed 7.5 and a pointer.... 5.8 and a pointer when I needed 5.0 and a wave fin .... 5.0 and a pointer when I needed 5.0 and a wave fin .... Was nicely powered with right gear for maybe 30 seconds!
Managed to avoid any swim time, but little energy after yesterday. Made a planing gybe and tried 2 tacks - stayed dry on second one with the help of the uphaul, getting there! Went very,very,very fast broad reaching in a 25 knot g ... (more)

A bit of everything today. It started out looking like it would be epic - monster fog bank and clear in the valley. Then the cloud came in from the E and the wind got light. At first it was up and down 12-15kts, then it filled in 20-25 for a while, then down to 18 or so. Partly cloudy with some light rain. Good fun with Mf4, RG and Bean.

OK, here goes... all in the name of group statistics. Another phenomenal day at the lake. 2 major breakthroughs today. It was my first day of not having to walk up the beach - FINALLY made it back to my launch point!! And, was able to get into both footstraps. Although I felt as though the board was somewhat out of control when I was in the back strap - maybe the 48cm fin. Maybe the board/sail combo. Maybe the sailor. Classic Nat day, just powered by the time I was rigged at about noon, sailed till 5:30, some re-rig/snack/beer breaks weren't enough to leave any energy for the evening sail - It was blowing >20 from about 5:30 to 8, unused! Made a couple of planing gybes but mostly crap out on the rotation. Tried a bunch of fin/sail combinations. Great stories from paratrooper Russian Dood and everyone else around the campfire.

A great day. Skies cleared at noon and the wind picked up to 18 or so by 1. Super steady wind and warm water The wind picked up gradually until about 6pm when it peaked at close to 23-25kts. Perfect 5.0 and no crowds. Sailed with Mf4 and RG.
